Visually impaired dancer Lin Xin-ting smashes physical barriers to build new life
For dancer Lin Xing-ting (林信廷), dance practice has become an important part of his Saturday routine. He is a member of the Bird and Water Dance Ensemble (鳥與水舞集), a group founded in 2003 that caters specifically for those with amputations, the visually impaired and dwarfs. In the eyes of Lin Xing-ting, dance duets make for a very special kind of challenge, where only through mutual cooperation can one complete the dance routine.
Despite the fact that Lin Xing-ting eventually overcame his insecurity regarding dance, with blindness in both eyes, there were still many difficulties he was forced to confront in the course of dance training. However, Lin Xing-ting is not the type of person to give up and he strove on with repeated practice, not only improving, but actually becoming the linchpin of the dance troupe. "Finding a little piece of light in an otherwise difficult life” is Lin Xing-ting’s experience regarding dance – finding perfection through imperfection and dancing out a beautiful poem.
