Sheltered workshop provides opportunities for people with disabilities

Located in Yunlin’s Huwei Township, Yuan Xiang Sheltered Horticulture Workshop (緣享庇護養花場) was established in 2007 to provide opportunities for people with disabilities. With 27 current attendees, the sheltered workshop helps people with disabilities to strive for self-improvement through tasks that include joss paper subcontract work as well as the growing and potting up of orchids.

In order to ensure that all of the attendees have entertainment in their spare time, Yuan Xiang Puppet Troupe was established and celebrated puppeteer Huang Shih-Chih (黃世志) invited for guidance. After only a year of training in puppetry and giving performances, the group of disabled students, who were originally closed up, shy and lacked the ability to interact with people, began opening up and becoming more emotionally stable – not only did they begin smiling, but their ability to interact with people also showed vast improvements.

 庇護工場提供身心障礙者工作機會

位於雲林縣虎尾鄉、成立於民國96年的「緣享庇護養花場」，是專門提供身心障礙者的工作場所，目前有27位學員。緣享庇護養花場協助學員自立自強，工作包括金紙代工、蘭花育苗、蘭花組盆等。另外，為了讓身心障礙的學員在工作之餘有個娛樂，特別成立「緣享布袋戲團」，邀請布袋戲大師黃世志指導。經過一年多的培訓，原本閉塞、畏縮，缺乏與人互動能力的身心障礙者，透過布袋戲的演出，他們的心打開了，情緒也穩定了，不但有了笑容，與人溝通的能力也改善許多。
