Established in 1995, Chiayi City Children’s Home provides care to children from problematic family backgrounds. In order to foster independence and a community spirit in the kids, their weekend schedule includes the chores of general cleaning and tidying up the library. The director and teachers at the children’s home also took the step of designing regular remedial tutoring classes at weekends and in the evenings to motivate the kids and ensure that they make steady progress with their studies. The staff at the children’s home works in shifts to provide a round-the-clock comprehensive care program.

嘉義市的修緣育幼院於民國84年成立，孩子大都來自變故的家庭，為了培養小朋友獨立和群體的生活，分工合作從事清潔工作，或圖書整理，是他們假日的例行工作。為了讓院內孩子的功課能循序漸進，院長和老師們，也設計了一套假日和夜間的輔導措施，目的是希望學習動力得以持續。育幼院內的老師，採二十四小時值班、輪班，目的是希望孩子們得到全方位的照顧。
