Hsinchu’s ‘Your Shoot’ – The Colorful Hakka Village of Ruanqiao
Ruanqiao Community is located in Hsinchu’s Zhudong Township. Both sides of the main road entering Ruanqiao are awash with a profusion of colored murals, making this one very special kind of ‘multi-colored’ Hakka community. Providing this old community with a fresh new look, the murals have given Ruanqiao a whole new lease of life and transformed it into a popular tourist spot. On June 15, PeoPo Citizen Journalism Platform and long-time supporter of Ruanqiao, The Society of Wilderness, jointly hosted Hsinchu’s ‘Your Shoot,’ mobilizing citizen journalists to come and record the rich abundance of Ruanqiao’s culture.
Following local artist Wu Zun-Xian’s (吳尊賢) artistic makeover, Ruanqiao’s traditional grocery store has changed beyond recognition. Wu Zun-Xian’s use of vivid colors in combination with rather audacious everyday life scenes has brought joy and laughter to a constant stream of visitors, who often stop to take pictures. Wu Zun-Xian spent a great deal of time communicating with locals from the village before eventually winning their approval. Painting the villagers “dream house,” has helped provide each village house with its own unique look and helped the village express its own distinctive characteristic style.

新竹踹拍 軟橋彩繪客家庄
新竹縣竹東鎮的軟橋社區，在道路兩旁的房屋，都被漆上了五彩繽紛的圖畫，成了相當有特色的客家彩繪聚落，搖身一變成了人氣景點，讓老社區重新亮了起來。PeoPo公民新聞平台於6月15日，與長期關心軟橋的荒野協會，在這裡共同舉辦新竹場的踹拍活動，帶領公民記者用鏡頭記錄軟橋豐富的人文景觀。
傳統的柑仔店(grocery store)，在軟橋女婿吳尊賢的畫筆改造後煥然一新，上門的顧客絡繹不絕，吳尊賢的畫作用色鮮艷大膽，圖像生動活潑，讓人看了會心一笑，吸引大批遊客拍照駐足。吳尊賢費心與村民對話溝通，得到他們的認同，畫出村民的夢想之屋，也讓每棟房子都獨具特色，使社區展現不同風情。
