International Worker’s Day: Save yourself – medical group calls for doctor’s union

On International Worker’s Day, countless young medical staff came out to protest against overwork in the medical field, calling for medical staff to be included under the country’s labor laws. Protesters vowed to resolutely oppose capitalist exploitation both home and abroad, resist a service trade agreement or free trade zone in conjunction with mainland China, and reject a deregulated free market. 
Doctors’ Working Conditions Reform Task Force (醫師勞動條件改革小組) believes that the root problem is deregulation, liberalization and marketization. There is great concern amongst medical staff that a service trade agreement, free economic zones and special international medical zones will hasten capital movement and cause increased exploitation of medical staff. 
Demands of the medical staff include:
1- Medical staff must be included under the country’s labor laws and working hours in the current system of job responsibility limited.

2. The government must improve all labor laws to safeguard the rights of workers and patients. Establish a trade union or autonomous labor rights group to avoid medical treatment being reduced to a mere private moneymaking enterprise.

3. Oppose poorly regulated domestic free market policies, including service trade agreement with mainland China and special international medical zones.

五一勞動節：自己健康自己救，醫勞小組籲醫師組工會
 
五一勞動節，不少年輕醫師站出來，反對醫護過勞，要求醫師納入勞基法，更堅決反對本國或跨國資本家剝削，反對兩岸服貿協議與自由經濟示範區，拒絕去管制化的自由市場。
醫師勞動條件改革小組指出醫護過勞問題根本，是去管制、自由化、市場化，他們更憂心服務貿易協議或自經區國際醫療特區，加速資本流動，也加重對醫護人員的剝削。

醫勞小組的幾點訴求包括： 
一、受雇醫師納入勞基法，責任制工時必須被限縮。
二、政府應健全法令，保障勞方與病人權益，確立工會或勞權團體的自主性，避免醫療淪為金主斂財私器。
三、反對缺乏國內規範的自由市場政策，包括兩岸服務貿易協議以及自由經濟醫療特區。
