Cross-Strait Service Trade Agreement dispute follow-up developments

Last Thursday (April 10), students fighting the secretive trade-pact withdrew from the Legislative Yuan. Leader of the student movement said that the Legislative Yuan exodus was “a comma, not a full stop,” and that ties established all over the country would “blossom everywhere,” ensuring oversight of government administration.

On the internet, independent media coverage and that of independent documentary makers began to appear on “crowdfunded” sites, which also serve as platforms for related fund-raising projects. On ‘weReport’(調查報導公眾委製), there are currently two special reports from the Sunflower Student Movement that have proposal plans; these include one from the well-known naturalized Chinese citizen journalist Zhou Shuguang (周曙光), and one from ‘The NTU Consciousness’ of National Taiwan University. The content of the reports presented on weReport - ‘Taiwanese Students Occupation of Legislative Yuan in Opposition to Secretive Service Trade Agreement’（報導台灣學生反對黑箱服貿協議占領立法院事件）and ‘Anti-Service Trade Agreement Special Edition’（反黑箱服貿特刊）- outline the great expectations held for China’s move to a democratic civil society and the views of students who provided reports on the Sunflower Student Movement respectively.

反黑箱服貿抗爭，本周四學生撤出立法院議場，學運領袖表示「這只是逗號，而非句號」，出關後將串聯各地「遍地開花」，監督政府行政。網路上也開始有獨立媒體與紀錄片工作者透過群眾募資網站進行相關報導計畫的募資，在網路平台weReport調查報導公眾委製平台上，目前有兩項太陽花學運專題報導的提案計畫，包括已歸化台灣的知名中國公民記者周曙光，與台灣大學學生媒體台大意識報，分別在weReport提出了兩項報導計畫〈報導台灣學生反對黑箱服貿協議占領立法院事件〉與〈反黑箱服貿特刊〉，分別以期盼中國邁入民主公民社會，以及學生的角度，提案報導台灣此次的太陽花學運。
