Dumpling wrappers assist cabbage farmers

Following the collapse of cabbage prices recently, farmers in the south were left in tears after being forced to sell their produce for NT$3(US$0.09 cents) per kg. To assist farmers affected by the market collapse in the south of Taiwan, public-interest groups and organizations raised a number of free dumpling-wrapping activities for families affected by the incident. Citizen journalist dino.utopia and tsun-fu recorded all related activities in Taipei and Tainan. Public-interest groups mobilized volunteers to carefully prepare fillings, which along with rich seasonal cabbage, helped to wrap several thousand ‘compassion’ dumplings. On the one hand, the activity helped the farmers through this difficult time, on the other, it helped other vulnerable families in the areas; it was a perfect example of killing two birds with one stone.

包水餃助高麗菜農

近來高麗菜菜價崩盤，南部有菜農含淚賣出一斤3元的價格。為了協助南部崩盤菜農，各地公益組織與團體紛紛舉辦了包水餃，免費提供給各方人士與弱勢家庭的活動。公民記者dino.utopia與村夫分別記錄了在台北與台南的相關活動，公益團體發動志工用心準備餡料，加上當季盛產的高麗菜，包出了幾千個愛心水餃，一方面幫助菜農度過難關，一方面也協助弱勢家庭，可說是一舉兩得。
