Taiwanese businesses deliver aid to Filipino village of Ormoc
Typhoon Yolanda (海燕颱風) pounded the Philippines for a whole month. Departing from the Port of Cebu (宿霧港), a number of citizen journalists followed representatives from the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (世界台商會) on a two-and-a-half-hour boat journey to Ormac where aid was distributed. Devastation from the typhoon was clearly evident en route, and on arrival in Kananga, villagers had already formed a massive queue. On this occasion, with the hope of assisting disaster victims through this difficult time, the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce distributed 2000 bags of rice, US$13,500 worth of pesos, as well as canned food and instant noodles etc. The Filipino people expressed their deep gratitude for Taiwan’s willingness to extend a helping hand in the wake of such a devastating typhoon.
