Morakot reconstruction – Jialan Village build children’s recreation space

On August 8, 2009, after Typhoon Morakot inflicted heavy damage on Jialan Village in Jinfeng Township, making the area dangerous and unfit for habitation, villagers were given temporary accommodation; on April 14, 2012, villagers were finally provided with permanent accommodation. With the assistance of World Vision Taiwan (台灣世界展望會), in order to give the children and youth of Jialan a recreational space as well as an area for holding community activities, the community began to plan the construction of a children’s recreation space.

Construction began on December 18, 2012, and the opening ceremony was held in mid-August. As the main users of the building were to be children, it was decided to actively involve the community’s children in the design process. At the ceremony, where Jialan Youth Association (嘉蘭村青少年會) performed a traditional dance and local villagers adorned traditional dress, the community expressed its sincere thanks for all the help it has received, all the way from the department responsible for the reconstruction process to society at large.

88重建-兒童福祉-台東嘉蘭永久屋興建兒童育樂教室落成啟用感恩慶典系列報導

2009年8月8日「八八水災」重創台東縣金峰鄉嘉蘭村，使部落成為安全堪虞區域，當地居民暫被安置於「嘉蘭八八新城」之中繼屋，並於101年4月14日遷居到永久屋。為了讓嘉蘭部落的兒童、青少年有休閒的空間，提供部落或教會運用的公共空間辦理活動，在台灣世界展望會的協助下，開始規劃設計興建兒童育樂教室，於101年12月18日開始興建， 8月中旬舉辦落成典禮。為了標榜建築物的主要使用的主人是兒童，因此活動主角都以兒童參與的構思來設計，嘉蘭村青少年會也籌組祝賀歌舞團表演，當地居民皆穿著原住民傳統服飾參與，以表達對社會大眾與援建單位的感謝。
