Located at Kaohsiung's Shanlin Da Ai Community (杉林區大愛村), a group of women that survived the Morakot disaster have co-founded a glass workshop. Even though the future success of such a creative venture remains highly uncertain, Ye Fu-rong (葉芙蓉), one of the group members from the Paiwan tribe who has been etching heartfelt sentiments of her homeland onto glass beads, remains positive about the scheme. "Let’s give it a try and see what happens," she said, displaying an optimistic attitude that has set the tone for the workshop.

The group has created an assortment of beads with unique patterns, names, associated indigenous folklore and meanings that bestow blessings on the wearer and are representative of the indigenous people’s passion and love for the land.
