Running free from learning disability
National University of Tainan Affiliated School for Students with Hearing Impairments has one very special student. Xu Zhi-Lin has managed to overcome his learning disability with outstanding performances in his physical education classes. Next year, he will represent Taiwan at the Special Olympics in Korea. We followed Xu Zhi-Lin to his practice ground, where we realized that each and every seemingly simple movement of his warm-up had been made possible only through painstakingly hard work and his indomitable determination. Xu Zhi-Lin enthusiastically participates in every available competition, and has accumulated a rich array of valuable experience in snowshoeing, soccer and track and field. He has put his heart and soul into daily classes, which has gained the praise of his teachers. Xu Zhi-Lin knows when to be active and when to be quiet, and through the accompaniment of his teachers he has learned many professional skills, including cooking and baking, etc. He hopes that through working hard at his schoolwork and sports, he can win glory for his country as well as forge a bright future for himself.
