Artist Wu Zonglin sounds out to the world through his copper gongs

文字-A A +A

The powerful sound of a copper gong drifted out from the deep mountains: this is the sound of artist and gong master Wu Zonglin, the last person in Taiwan to produce hand-made copper gongs. Thirty-eight years ago, Mr. Wu became enchanted by the mesmerizing sound of gongs and threw himself into the industry.

With a gradual decline in demand for copper gongs, Mr. Wu expanded his skills and began sculpting, transforming himself into a gong maker and sculptor. He hoped to continue his passion for gongs and break down stereotypical impressions, encouraging people to see gongs in a new light and begin valuing them. Copper gongs may look nothing special, but their sound has the ability to leave people spellbound. Mr. Wu’s gongs aren’t only beautiful and enchanting, but also carry the passion of Mr. Wu, ensuring that this traditional art won't vanish in the sands of time.
