Developing a communal organic farming group

Danjin Road is flanked by two entirely different landscapes; on one side a mass of high-rise buildings, on the other, luscious green vegetation - this is Pidao Village. Members of Pidao Co-cultivation Group, an offshoot of Pidao Arts Village, use sustainable organic farming methods to produce healthy, chemical-free vegetables, which are shared among the group.

Founder of the co-cultivation initiative, Yang Jun (楊俊), explained that co-cultivation means leasing plots of farming land to people interested in growing vegetables instead of growing cash crops on the land. Yang Jun says the only condition to leasing the land is using organic, chemical-free farming methods. Generally speaking, it’s hard to make a living through organic farming, so Yang Jun hopes that combining organic farming, life, culture, and recreation, can provide a better path.

Pidao Co-cultivation Group and people from Pidao Arts Village have a simple, people-friendly approach to life, sharing their passion for the arts and the land in their own unique way.

共耕計畫發起人楊俊解釋共耕的意思是我有一塊土地，我不是拿這塊土地來做生產獲利，而是透過租賃的方式提供給喜歡種菜的人，當然最基本的條件是有機無毒樂活休閒。一般種有機的不容易生存下去，所以百般思考：有機、生活、人文、休閒結合，也許才是出路。
