No More Closet X – Homosexuals share their stories

In 2014, unafraid of how others saw him, Wang Tsen-yung (王增勇), an associate professor at the Graduate Institute of Social Work at National Chengchi University, courageously came out as a gay man at the Legislative Yuan. In 2017, he opened the course “Aesthetics of Existence of Gays,” so that through listening to and telling stories, students could learn how to better care for others. On this occasion, he came to share his story at Taipei Artist Village－Treasure Hill.

No More Closet X was initiated by a group of college students interested in gay rights. Its aim is to lead the audience into the inner world of gay people through a diverse collection of stories in exhibitions and group sharing. In addition to associate professor Wang Tsen-yung, invited speakers have included the founders of Fufuknows (夫夫之道), a Fan page on Facebook which attracts numerous followers; writer Li Ping-yao (李屏瑤); and playwright Chien Li-yin (簡莉穎), etc., in what has been a quietly unfolding banquet of life exchanges.

On May 24 this year, the same-sex marriage bill finally passed, painting a new rainbow for the gay community in Taiwan; however, they not only need protection in law but also the care and understanding of society. Ensuring the gay community is treated with the same degree of respect as everyone else is a goal that we must work together to achieve.

破櫃計畫 同志故事獻聲

2014年，不畏懼他人的眼光，政治大學社工所副教授王增勇在立法院公開出櫃。2017年，他開了「同志生命美學」的課程，讓學生從聽故事和說故事中，學習去包容他人。而這次他來到台北藝術村落─寶藏巖來分享自己的故事。

「破櫃計畫」是由一群關心同志權益的大學生所發起，期望藉由蒐集來自各處的故事，以分享會和靜態展覽的方式，帶領觀眾進入同志的內心世界。邀請的講者除了王增勇教授外，還包括創辦粉絲專頁、擁有眾多粉絲的夫夫之道，作家李屏瑤和編劇簡莉穎等等，一場生命交流的饗宴悄悄展開。

今年五月二十四日，同婚法案終於通過，為台灣同志圈畫上一道新的彩虹。然而他們需要的，不只是法律名義上的保障，更是這個社會所給予的關愛和理解，如何以同等的高度去相待，仍是彼此共同努力的目標。
